In Louis Erdrich's poem "Advise to myself" the lyrical voice makes a list of things she doesn't want herself to worry about. Re-read the poem. What does she say IS important (may show up on the exam)?
My laundry list of things that I advise myself not to worry about is:
finding kids' socks
trying to keep people with wet shoes from walking in the house with them on
making sure my kids eat 5 to 7 servings of veggies a day (won't happen)
trying to get my daughter to wear her hair in a way I like
What is important: enjoy life--what else am I here for?
What's your laundry list? (Be
specific, as is Erdrich, and focus on little things that are not worth worrying about).
Write one sentence about what IS important.
