Has anyone seen the new window seat video by Erykah Badu? (Click on the pic to play.) Watch it (it's on her website, but not on youtube) and then read this short blog post: There's also pictures here.

Is the video "Feminist Art or Shameless Publicity Stunt"? What do you make of the ending?

In photo, Keira Knightley had to wear a bodice so tight to "enhance" her breasts, she could only have it on for 10 minutes at a time without passing out.

Required for 3/8: laudry list

In Louis Erdrich's poem "Advise to myself" the lyrical voice makes a list of things she doesn't want herself to worry about. Re-read the poem. What does she say IS important (may show up on the exam)?

My laundry list of things that I advise myself not to worry about is:
finding kids' socks
trying to keep people with wet shoes from walking in the house with them on
making sure my kids eat 5 to 7 servings of veggies a day (won't happen)
trying to get my daughter to wear her hair in a way I like

What is important: enjoy life--what else am I here for?

What's your laundry list? (Be specific, as is Erdrich, and focus on little things that are not worth worrying about). Write one sentence about what IS important.

Before you comment read the following question very carefully and direct your comment in a specific way to this question:
What is the difference between the way the New York Times magazine depicts women and men in the photos? Be specific with your descriptions, and you need not refer to all 60 slides, just the "great performers" set.

Once you've answered this questions, you may add other comments.
