What is Jen Sorensen's message in this cartoon? (You can see it larger by clicking on link above.)

  1. The issue at hand is the Protect Life Act which, according to Jen Sorensen, is a slap in the face to pregnant women. Her message is that women are important and that one life should not be given more value than another. She is not against helping new born babies or prenatal health but she exaggerates certain scenarios to get her point across. For example, we know it would be ridiculous to make women pee on a stick before they voted, but when you start treating people differently based on a natural part of life how much more ridiculous can you get?

  2. Women are just as important as men considering we populate the world, peeing on a stick before we vote is a slap in the face considering the people across the desk asking has a mother too. And what gina said about one life should be given more value than another is spot on. Jen Sorensen illustrated this very well, without having to spell it out that every life is important.

  3. The message in this cartoon is that women aren't seen as human if their pregnant. That women arent women there just a baby carrier.Where as, if there pregnant they wont have to pay taxes. And having a women to pee on a stick before she can vote is saying you're less of man because there not having men pee on a stick before he can vote and its taking a womens right away to vote if she is pregnant. The main point here is that a women is not a women is she's pregnant as the cartoon states she;s a "fetus mobile", she's just used for reproduction. But Sorensen's her point across by using wierd example, but it show how women are treated differntly if and when pregnant.

  4. This cartoon suggest that pregant women aren't at all human. They are just a baby carrying machine. Therefore they aren't able to vote nor pay taxes. I think the message is that women should be treated differently than men because of something that is a part of our nature.

  6. Jen Sorensen is addressing the protect life act. She points out that this act makes women seem like they not human but incubators. To get this point across she uses humor and sarcasm with the joke that pregnant women aren't alive and therefore cant do things such as vote and they don't have to pay taxes be ause they aren't living. She wants to bring light on the fact that congress would be turning something that is a natural part of life and reproduction into something that is seen less worthy of human. If that's the way it's going to be then I'd like to see any woman that wants to have kids if she is treated and portrayed in such a bad way.

  7. I think that Jen Sorensen's message in this cartoon is that pregnant woman are basically beneath everyone else. She is showing that it does not make any sense to kill a mother to save a child. Either way a person is going to die. The comic is basically stating that pregnant women are not alive. I do not find this to be a very good decision to make. I personally would not want to be killed to save my child without it being discussed with me first. The mother should be able to make that type of decision. This act and cartoon is just ridiculous.

  8. I think what Jen is saying is that in the comic is that the pregnant women aren't humans, they are walking dead. She was making a joke when she had the man make her pee on the stick to show just how crazy things are now, that she would not be surprised if that actually were to happen. She is trying to get her point across that women are just the same as men.

This comic satirizes the ridiculous statement of this so called "Protect Life Act" bill. It does not make any sense at all. If they can let a women die in order to protect the fetus, then both fetus and mother will die at the end. It just takes a little of common sense to get to that conclusion. Jensen's point of view on this is that this bill reduces the status of a pregnant women to simply a "fetus carrier" that can be disposed at any time, completely dehumanizing the expecting mothers, and further more, the female gender. She also takes it to the next level, imagining how things could be for women if nonsense like this were taken seriously. It is a shame that politicians are wasting time to debate this, taking time and efforts that could be well spent in more important and urgent issues in the country.

  10. This comic is basically saying that i a female is pregnant then she isn't see as being a human being. She is just there to carry the baby and then once the baby is born she will become human again. Referring to the mother as an incubator is saying that she doesn't even exist as a human.Jensen's comic to me is it seem like women are only here for one thing an that's it to carry the baby nothing...they don't mean anything to the world.

  11. This comic says that pregnant women are not human beings if they are pregnant. Women are part of society and not just baby carriers. I feel that Congress, since a majority are men, do not appreciate a womans rights. Since being pregnant really doesn't affect them then why should they care about women? I feel like this cartoon is an eye opener to how things really could be.

  12. This comic is saying that pregnant women are not fullly human. They are only good for giving birth to children and carrying a baby around for nine months. I do not understand why being pregnant is so criticized. It does not really effect the woman.

The comic above is hinting towards the fact that a babies life is more important that the women that carry it. It is suggesting that they are only useful to do that job and provide nutrients for that baby till its born. This is a terrible way of thinking as the baby sometimes isnt likely to live if there is a difficult birth. The mother is obviously is more likely to live through this process. I think the government has made a huge mistake by making this law

  14. I feel that this comic is basically saying that with this Protect Life Act, women are no longer an important part of society. They are only needed for reproductive purposes and nothing more. If women choose to have children they are now putting their own life at risk if something were to happen and put the babies life in danger. While it is more likely that if they mother dies, the baby will too, this act doesn't seem to care nor take that into considerations.

  15. I believe her message in this cartoon is that women are still treated very unfairly. Mothers should be put first before the fetus if it means saving her life in the process. Doctors should not have the right to choose a fetus over the mothers own life. The choice of who should die should be up to the mothers and not the doctors.

  16. I think that the message that Jen Sorenson is trying to get across is that according to this new law, a pregnant woman becomes less of a human being than she was before she was pregnant. The fact that a pregnant woman can be killed in order to save the fetus without her consent seems ridiculous to me, especially when abortion is still legal in most states. The message that the comic is trying to send across is pretty clear. Women are still people while they are pregnant, they aren't just incubators.

  17. This cartoon shows that some people believe that once a women is pregnant that is all she is good for, carrying the baby. They don't view her as a human anymore, just something to carry a baby in. Its saying that the babies life is more important than the mothers which is false. It doesn't really make sense because if the mother dies then the fetus also dies. The act is really just ridiculous.

  18. This comic is questioning just how far the Protect a Life Act will go to enforce the importance of the preservation of the life of a fetus. Also it is questioning if it is ethical to place the life of a fetus above the life of the mother. In doing so we are degrading the lives of expecting mothers to nothing more than a vessel for a fetus, who obviously holds more importance in the eyes of the individuals enforcing these laws.

  19. The message is saying that preganant women or women in generlly shouldnt have a say so . It can indicate that women are not good for anything other than making babies and that they shouldnt be doing nothing but raising children. I dont understand why pregnant women are being talk about so badly because if it wasnt for women having babies the world would become non existant .

  20. If the Protect A Life Act was really like this, then we would have no children and the world would eventually consist of old people. Women are looked at as "incubators", but really they are creating a miracle and bringing a new life into this world. Womeen are just as important as men. Women have to do all the work having children anyways. Society basically looks at these women in the comic as not being part of society just beacause they are pregnant. This should not be the case. Women are a very important part of society and make up the majority of the U.S. population.
