Violence against women is a-okay, says adolescents in UK study

  1. Just reading the title struck me. How could anybody say that hitting a woman is justifiable? Obviously these 11 and 12 year olds don't understand society today. They're too young to fully understand violence, especially since they are just hitting puberty. They are simply not mature enough. It's one thing to have men say it's ok to hit women, but a whole different story when girls themselves say it's ok.

  3. I don't have to live in the U.K to know that the way these children think is a result of Patriarchal conditioning.Even from a young age, both men and women are taught that women are of a lesser value than men, even looking at supposedly harmless sayings like "Girls have cooties" or "You hit like a girl",The message is that it is better to be a man than a woman. If the situation was reversed,It would make perfect sense to expect the kids to say that a woman would be perfectly justified in karate chopping her husband in the neck because he couldn't perform sexually, just for example.

But theres no double standard. As long as they grow up in societies where men are valued more than woman, one can expect children to answer questions of this nature in the way that the majority of them did.
