  1. I think Sorensen is trying to say that those who get pregnant young basically take the pregnancy as a joke. If you get pregnant young there is always somewhere that you can go and get help. Getting pregnant young is not seen as a bad thing now a days. I think some might find this comic funny because it is the blunt truth. It basically talks about everything that no one wants to say out loud.

  2. Sorensen is saying that when people are young and get pregnant they think it will be all fun and games when really they are in no position to say. They think it is funny and will make older people like them better. Teen pregnancy is becoming much more common now than it ever has. Some people take it as a joke and others do not.

  3. I believe this comic is saying that when there are teen pregnancy's, many people, including planned parenthood, do not take it seriously. It is kind of a slap in the face as if saying, "You got pregnant young, now we will make a joke out of it." Girls who get pregnant young still need someone to talk to, however, there are not many places that they can go to for real personal support.

  4. I feel that Jen Sorensen is saying that teens do not take pregnancy serious enough. Because of that some people in society will make a joke about that. For example, the one section of the comic where the counselor says "You were probably showing a little thigh weren't you", shows the belief of some people that say teen girls "ask to be raped." Teens always rely on their guardian or parent, specifically mothers and grandmothers, to take care of their children because they will always be there. I do not find this comic funny but to those who do, it may be funny because they agree with it.

  5. I think that Jen Sorensen is saying that teens who get pregnant take it as a joke. She is saying that there is help out there if they need it. I also think she's saying that there are other options other than abortion, in the comic they are trying to convince the girls not to get an abortion. This comic to me isn't funny at all, especially the part where the girl was raped and the said she was probably showing a little thigh. Tiera Gary

  6. i think that jen sorensen is trying to say that there are so many young teens who get pregnant, than ever before, and they do not take is very serious. they dont think about the long term outcomes. and the comment about "teen girls ask to be raped" is dumb. no one asks for that. i think that teens who do get pregnant at a young age are looked down upon because they are seen to not be as "mature" as older women. but that is definetly not the case for all girls.

  7. I think she is trying to say that women do not have many options when its comes to unplanned pregnanys. Instead of offering real advice most people just blame the women instead of seeing the whole picture. It is funny because this is how most people view the situations in the comic. No one really takes women seriously and instead makes a joke out of them.

I think they are trying to say that at this age many women don't really take parenting seriously and also the fact that there aren't too many support systems out their for girls. I thought the part where they offered the girl a free lollipop was funny because it is true there isn't much u can do. Also much of society treats you as a child so they don't think you can make wise decisions at this point.

  9. I think this comic is trying to show just how common teen pregnancy is . The thing that was funny about the comic was the picture of the lollypop which basically states that young children are bring children into this world . it also shows how common a high school girl would go to prom pregnant . The title its self is funny because to me it indicates that people have sex and get pregnant and act very unaware of how it happened.

  10. I think this comic is trying to say that now a days when teenagers get pregnant they think it's some kind of joke. They think that oh it's no big deal that I'm pregnant. They also think it's going to be fun having a baby and that it isn't going to be much work. They take the risk by having sex, most without any type of birth control, and then when they do ended up pregnant they act like they had no idea it would happen to them. Teenage girls really need to grow up and realize there are consequences for their actions.

  11. I think this comic does not take teen pregnancy seriously. It is almost a joke and that young teens think that having a baby is cute and not going to be any work at all. There are always other options if you feel that you can't handle a child. Teens need to know the reality of having a child at a young age and realize its not all fun and games.

  12. After reading the comments I believe many people missed the little line that says GOP style planned parenthood. Republicans are against abortion and think it shouldn't ever be an option as In the rapist getting the girl present, they blamed it on the girl. Just yesterday I drove through columbia MO. There were like 50 people protesting at a planned parenthood, even though they don't actually give the abortions they just share ways to get through it even if that means abortion.

  13. I think Sorensen is trying to portray this image that teenage girls don't care if they get pregnant. There is so much help out in the world to prevent pregnancy...they are called condoms and birth control. And Sorensen is also saying that becoming pregant is always the girl/women's fault. I mean, if someone gets raped, it obvioulsy isn't the woman's fault. I think abortion should be up to the woman. It is her body and her choice.

  14. I think Sorensen is trying show how common unplanned preganancies are nowadays. So many teens are getting pregnant and it's like eac year the age is being lowered even more. I think the funny part comes in where many people find it hilarious how teens get pregnant and joke about it. Some teens don't take it serious, but not all. The ones thatdo take it serious really look for suppoet, but there aren't a lot of places that offer support and some are scared to turn to family. so just because they are young and the pregnancy is unplanned, many people joke about it like saying the girl that was raped asked for it, or the plan c or offering coupons for maternity prom dresses. This comio isn't funny to me, I think it's sad because I see this a lot and it is happening everyday.

  15. I believe Sorensen is trying to show how teen preganancies are becoming more and more common everday. Now and days some teens thinks its okay to walk around pregnant like its the new trend. But people are going to have their own opinion about this topic either way it goes. No its not funny or cute but what can you do? Educate the teens more and more but not joke around as if it is okay.

  16. I feel Sorensen is trying to show how teen pregnancy is more common now a days. And that girls are have babies younger and youger, and the feel it is okay to do so. Also even if a women is raped that its her fault. Even if it is a unplanned pregnancy that women dont have many options without being talked down upon or even counseloring to help them make decisions. slso that they rather talk to a lesbian vs giving cervical exams. And that women dont take control of using and having the advantages of have and using contraception.

  17. Sorensen seems sarcastic saying that it is normal to get pregnant as a teen in the twenty-first century. The comic tries to capture pregnant teens by advertising lollipops! And how the clinics don't provide counseling about cancer or diseases, rather the sexual content of the paparazzi. The fact is that teen prengancy should not be happening. The body of a women is not even fully developed until at least eightteen years of age, so how can they carry a child? I have a close friend who got gave birth at sixteen and her little sister just gave birth at fifteen. It's insane and I disapprove completely. A person hasn't even found their true identity until they move away from their dependants and mature on their own. I don't understand how the mother's of these girls allow it. My sister is seventeen and if she were to get pregnant, I wouldn't like it. That is what birth control is for. It is unnecessary for anyone to have children until they are fully educated and equiped financially, mentally, and physically.

  18. I don;t think the comic strip if funny at all not in any way. The illustrator is making a joke out of young pregnancy. The young women have a hard enough time as it is as young mom, and to have someone make a joke out of it is simply stupid. Im pretty sure that the young women who has given birth to a child, definitely grows up fast to defend her role of motherhood.

  19. Like everyone else, I think she's saying that teens who get pregnant dont take it serously... I mean there are so many teens out there that think it's cool to have sex but dont think about the after math of their actions. Her cartoon is a statement reflective of that.

  20. She is writing this in response to the fact that they want to take away all federal funding to the planned parent hood program. The reason that she is writing it is because she shows that the government is always going to blame the woman for getting pregnant. Like in one part she says oh you were raped well I bet you were wearing a short skirt. There for the woman should no matter what situation happened to her she is going to have to keep the baby.
